College of Nano Science and Techonolgy (CNST) is located in Suzhou. It is a new college jointly established by Soochow University, Suzhou Industrial Park and the University of Waterloo in Canada. The college was founded in December 2010, and approved as one of 17 pilot colleges by the Ministry of Education in October 2011, with the hope of reforming China’s higher education system and operation mechanisms. It aims to cultivate students with international vision and international competitiveness.
CNST offers bachelor, master, and PhD degree programs in nano materials and technology, and is dedicated to high-quality science education that meets the demands of this rapidly changing discipline. Currently, there are 411 undergraduates, 340 postgraduates, and 93 doctoral candidates enrolled in the college, and these numbers will continue to grow. There are 51 professors and associate professors, conducting interdisciplinary, dynamic, and innovative research in the areas of new energy, biotechnology, green environment, and informatic electronics. All of them have education and/or research experience outside of mainland China. CNST admits 100 undergraduate students each year in a four-year degree program in “nanomaterials & technology”, and it aims to cultivate students with international vision and international competitiveness. The undergraduate program in CNST focuses on innovative talent-training, adopting and integrating strategies from famous international universities.
